About Cosmos Order

About

Cosmos Order is a platform for integrating the theoretical systems of classical medicine. Taking classical texts with a history of thousands of years as our primary foundation, we aim to organize rules and knowledge scattered across diagnosis, meridians, materia medica, classical formulas, and the Five Movements and Six Qi.

Following the principle of interpreting the classics through the classics themselves, we hope to serve as faithful translators of the wisdom left by earlier generations, and to offer people a source of orientation and grounding in an age unsettled by rapid technological change.

We aim to use concise language while preserving the terminology of the classical tradition, presenting it in forms that modern readers can more readily engage with. In doing so, we hope to clarify the foundations of classical Chinese medicine and do justice to the intellectual effort of those who developed it.

姜智昂 / Shaang Chiang
Independent Classical Chinese Medicine Researcher · Cosmos Order Founder & Researcher

During his master’s studies, Shaang first encountered Chinese medicine through research on pulse diagnosis. He later earned an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and worked as a technical VP/CTO in fields including mobile internet, logistics robotics, and renewable energy.

After a short-lived startup project in 2017/2018 involving a big-data “Chinese medicine brain” trained on 140,000 records from renowned senior physicians, the author came to a realization.

In his view, the limited effectiveness often seen in modern Chinese medicine is related to misunderstandings accumulated over the past century. Through interpretations shaped by individual preference, the connection to the essential structure of Chinese medicine from thousands of years ago has gradually been severed.

At the same time, working with his Chinese-medicine consultant also allowed him to witness clinical results derived from classical medical theory.

For the past nine years, his work has therefore focused on collecting and identifying the underlying models behind classics such as the Inner Classic, Classic of Difficult Issues, Systematic Classic of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, and the Guilin ancient edition, with the aim of giving the wisdom of earlier generations a fair and truthful account.

He also wishes to thank several teachers who have remained committed to classical Chinese medicine for their generous teaching: Professor Pan Xiaochuan, Fan Jiaru (pen name: “If Tomorrow Comes”), Teacher Wen Shuo, and Teacher Lu Hui.
