Introduction to the Sixty-Jiazi Dietary-Therapy Model of Generating and Completing Numbers in the Great Discourse on the Regular Order of the Six Origins
The breadth of the spacetime section of the Study of Heaven and Humanity reaches the scale of a vast database in the Huangdi Neijing: Suwen, “Great Discourse on the Regular Order of the Six Origins.” The core of this discourse is presented as a large-scale long-cycle manual of dietary therapy and medication spanning the sixty Jiazi—an entire sixty years. In analyzing this high-density data, the article proposes another mathematical pattern hidden beneath it: numerical descriptions of the magnitude of qi transformation—for example, Shaoyang seven and Yangming nine—align with the generating numbers and completing numbers of the Hetu.
The generating numbers of the Hetu (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and the completing numbers (6, 7, 8, 9, 10) are described here as core mathematical markers used by the ancients to represent bands of energetic condensation and release.
Within the sixty-year great cycle, as the year’s Stem-Branch changes, the energetic magnitudes of the annual central movement, Sitian, and Zaiquan are said to be capable of precise “factorization” and encoding into these generating and completing numbers. The article interprets this as a digital database of Chinese medicine operating at a large spacetime scale.
The text is also described as using a sophisticated method of data compression: the sixty Jiazi are paired and folded into thirty standard large time segments—for example, Jiazi and Jiawu are discussed together because Zi and Wu both belong to Shaoyin Sovereign Fire. Under each segment, the original text explicitly specifies the magnitudes of transformation in Heaven and Earth—for example, statements of the form “the qi of yellow Heaven … transformation two, rain transformation five … creation four”—and gives precise dietary and medicinal indications for the first and second halves of the year. Teacher Jiang applied the temporal-model supplementation/drainage formulas to these thirty groups of dietary data and performed a brute-force scoring test. According to the article, aside from a very small number of exceptions, the sixty-year dietary-medication indications show near-perfect internal consistency in Five-Phase supplementation and drainage under excess and insufficiency.
